About Us

The Heart Of British Shoe Making

Springline is proudly based in Northampton, England, widely regarded as the historic heart of the world’s shoe-making industry. With a heritage that is respected across the globe, Northampton has long been synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship, quality, and tradition in footwear production.

Founded in 1982, Springline has grown to become the only remaining last manufacturer in Britain, upholding a vital part of the shoemaking process that few still practice. Our dedication to excellence extends beyond just lasts: we also produce high-quality shoe trees and a range of related products that support and preserve the shape and longevity of fine footwear.

Every item we produce is handcrafted by our skilled team of craftsmen and women, who combine traditional techniques with precision and care. We take great pride in continuing to manufacture our products in the very heart of British shoemaking, ensuring that the legacy of Northampton’s world-renowned industry continues to thrive.

Our Philosophy - Made to Last, Made in England

At the heart of our philosophy is a simple belief - If it can be made in England, it should be.

We are proud to be a British manufacturer and are committed to supporting and celebrating UK craftsmanship by sourcing skills and materials from within the country wherever possible.

Sustainability is also a key consideration in everything we do. We carefully select the finest materials and work with partners who share our values; those who prioritise quality, integrity, and responsible practices.

Made to Last - We believe in doing things properly. Our products are crafted with care, precision, and pride. Whether by our own skilled team or through the expertise of trusted partners, together, we ensure that every item we produce meets the highest standards of quality and durability.

We hope that this dedication is evident in everything we make, and that our products bring lasting satisfaction and enjoyment for years to come.

British Craftsmanship

Located in Northamptonshire, our factory has been proudly crafting quality products for nearly 50 years, guided by a strong commitment to doing things the right way.

Today, we are supported by a dedicated and growing team of skilled artisans, some of whom have been with us for decades. In an age of responsible manufacturing, we take pride in our close connection to the factory and our continued dedication to British production.

Springline is deeply rooted in the local community, and our identity is inseparably tied to the generations of workers who have passed through our factory doors over the past 43 years.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of our operations as a British manufacturer, and we strive to make our processes as circular as possible.

We carefully source premium wood from PEFC and FSC certified primarily European forests. Our primary wood processing partner is a family-run business in the Italian mountains that powers its facility using solar energy and wood waste.

At our Northampton factory, we use a biomass boiler to convert our own wood waste into energy, providing sustainable heating for the premises.

The high-density Polyethylene (HDPE) used in our lasts is also produced in Italy. All waste plastic flakes generated in our production are collected and returned to the factory, where they are repurposed into new material blocks.
